429 Bison Squadron (Fortunae Nihil) RAF Leeming. Halifax BIII aircraft LK 804 AL-Q was badly damaged by a night fighter over the target Nuremberg, Germany, ran out of fuel and ditched in the English Channel on the way home. Most of the crew was able to get into the emergency dinghy and were rescued thanks to the sacrifice of Pilot F/O JH Wilson (RCAF) who skillfully ditched the aircraft disregarding his own safety
P/O H Glass DFM (RCAF) survived and was rescued at sea
P/O Glass would be killed 1944-07-08 on 429 Squadron Halifax LW 132 AL-H while returning from a raid to Chantilly, France
