1917-08-31: 2nd-Lieutenant, RFC. 1917-11-20: posted to 8Sqn, France. 1917-12-01: Kinnear was wounded in FK8, B-314; force-landed at Mericourt after petrol pipe shot through in attack by ground m.g. fire, on contact patrol. His gunner, Lt Maurice Alexander O'Callaghan, Canadian, was OK. 1918-07-19: Kinnear was OK in FK8, C-8627; under carriage swept away after hitting sunken road on landing from practice. His gunner, 2Lt Sidney Harold Smith (British) was also OK. 1919-02-03: Aeroplane Officer.
