1918-09-27: Eyres was wounded in DH-4, A-8086; when it was shot through in combat during a bombing raid. His pilot, 2Lt Frederick de Mulford Hyde (British), was also wounded. Both recovered.. 1918-10-29: Eyres was missing in DH-4, D-8398; last seen hit by AA fire and going down apparently under control during bombing. His pilot, Capt Claud Harry Stokes, (British) was also missing. Later that day they were accepted as dead.
