Hyde left England for Salonika, by ship on 1916-07-05. He arrived there on 1916-09-29 for instruction as an observer. He was confirmed on 1917-02-01as Flying Officer, Observer, a permanent move from the Machine Gun Corps. On 1917-03-22 Hyde and pilot Berry were posted missing in N12 3182. They burnt the Nieuport after a forced landing. Hyde was made a PoW and was repatriated 1918-09-21. He resigned his commission 1918-12-21 because of ill health. Death date is not known.
