Wallace's first military experience was with the Canadian Motor machine Gun Brigade, part of the CEF. He later transferred to the RFC, and after at-the-front flying experience became an instructor of new pilots. He was killed at Hurst Hill, Oxfordshire in a take-off training accident 1917-03-27.
