Fuel tank exploded and aircraft crashed. *S.L.* 1916-04-30: Liddle was killed when his fuel tank exploded, causing his machine to come down in flames from a height of 1,000 feet, landing on a railway track, very near the Chingford station. He had obtained is Aviator's certificate from the Curtiss School in Toronto the previous December, and immediately left for England.
