A note on 5 OTU Liberators Various sources have identified the RAF serialed Liberators used by No. 5 Operational Training Unit as B. Mk. VI or GR. Mk. VI. The photographic evidence suggests that most, maybe all, were configured as B. Mk. VI - nose turret, lower ball turret, and no ASV radar. The RCAF records refer to them as Mk. VI, Mk. 6, B. Mk. VI, B6, and B-24J. I have chosen to use the RAF style designation B. Mk. VI, as more people will be familiar with this configuration of airframe. |
