A
NOTE ABOUT SOME RECENT HURRICANE "RESTORATIONS"
A recent e-mail from a reader has informed me that some individuals in Canada collected a large number of nameplates from Canadian built Hurricanes, when they were scrapped in the years after the war. These nameplates are now reportedly being sold, one by one, and this may explain the sudden increase in Hurricane Mk. XII "restoration" projects in the last 10 years. I can't confirm this, but it sounds very believable. This is perfectly legal, but a little confusing for us historians. See my notes about a similar situation with ex RCAF Mustangs. |
